PROJECTS and SERVICES

God is love.
Love needs to be in action and expressed in such a way that it is tangible and experienced by others even if it requires sacrifice on our part. This is imitating a God of love.   -1 John 4:8;  3:18;

Water Project

Help Fund a Deep Bore Well

"I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink..."

 Matthew 25:35

Clean water is essential, yet getting water is a challenge in many parts of the world. Water from the river (flowing through a pipe in the picture above) is often laden with parasites. Some people travel long distances to get water, carrying 10 and 20 litre containers up and down hills several times a day. It's labour intensive and the sick and elderly are adversely affected unless someone helps them. Droughts occur frequently, making water even more scarce and difficult to find.

What Can We Do?

Shallow wells are contaminated with surface water and sewage. We would like to fund the drilling and construction of a deep bore well for the whole community in Sengera, Kenya (located near the town of Kisii in Nyanza province).  Once a suitable site is located and funding is adequate, we can begin this essential work of digging a deep bore hole!

While drilling itself will cost between $12,000 - $20,000 USD the estimated total costs are between $40,000 - $60,000 which include drilling, set up, pumping system, construction, equipment etc. We would also like to include a maintenance budget for long term use and operation of this system.  If you are interested in learning details about deep bore wells please visit: www.boreholedrillingkenya.com .

Our goal is $100,000 USD

FEED THE HUNGRY/SCHOOL MEAL PROGRA
"You gave me something to eat"
Matthew 25:35-40

Imagine for a moment: no refrigerator, little to no money to buy food,  then drought sets in and your harvest is half or less than what you expected. These conditions are a reality for many people. Sometimes,  it is necessary to eat only once a day, or not eat every day as people must ration their food. Weakened by hunger,  people, especially children, are more susceptible to disease.  People die.

Hunger is a serious and real problem around the world.  In many developing nations such as Kenya, many people rely on their crops from their farms for food. Others simply do not have enough money to buy enough food for their families.

What can we do?

Currently, we would like to fund meal programs in areas of need  (e.g. schools) and purchase food stuffs for free distribution to people living in poverty in Kenya. Join us and be part of the solution.

Children living in poverty are very vulnerable. This is especially true for children who are abandoned, rejected, or orphaned in developing nations. Because of poverty, some parents will leave their children with another family, hoping that they will at least get fed and have a home. Unfortunately, the children are left with other poor families.

Abandonment  occurs frequently due to poverty. Sometimes this happens because parents living with HIV/AIDS are too sick to care for for their children, or a man might 'send his wife and her children away' (kick them out of home), leaving these children and their mother destitute.

All children deserve the right to a loving home, food, clothing, shelter, protection, and education.

What Can We Do?

Help us create a fund for child care needs. This will enable us to provide funding for local house holds to help them provide some of life's necessities for these precious children such as food, shelter, clothing, education, and medical care.

Thank you for your support!

"Train up a child in the way he should go; and when he is old,
he will not depart from it."
Proverbs 22:6

Many people in  developing nations cannot afford good education for their children. Sometimes children must remain at home, work on farms, and never learn to read or write.  Education is a key factor in breaking this cycle of poverty. The love of Christ compels us to be His love in action by helping the poor.

What Can We Do?

Help us to provide funding to impoverished communities so that they can establish and operate their schools (e.g. funding costs for construction of classrooms, registration, installing water tanks, latrines and school fees for children).  Currently, our focus is supporting Graccious Makindiba Memorial School. This is an elementary school which includes Early Childhood Development classes. The school is located in a remote village in Nyanza Province, Sengera, Kenya.  Thank you for your support!

HEALTH CARE

"I was sick and you visited me"
Matthew 25:36

In developing nations, the plight of the sick and injured can be heartbreaking. The sick are often too poor to afford  medication or medical care or afford transport costs to a hospital or clinic. Sadly, some opt to stay home, remain untreated, and prepare to die so they will not be a burden to their families. This is because unpaid or delayed payment of hospital bills can result in the repossession of their farms, (their only source of income and a cherished family inheritance), this would leave their families destitute. Some women lack the resources to have a safe and healthy birth and often give birth in unsanitary and risky environments.

Parasites, such as jiggers (pictured above: on the hands and feet), which bore into the flesh, here their larvae  will grow. If left untreated it can be debilitating and cause infections. Children are especially vulnerable to these parasites.

What Can We Do?

Help us create a medical fund which can be used for those that need it the most. This fund will be used to help purchase medication, pay hospital bills and/or clinic visits, and any other medical needs that may arise.

Thank you for your support!

HIV/AIDS PROGRAM
HIV/AIDS
"When He went ashore He saw a great crowd, and He had
compassion on them and healed their sick"
Matthew 14:14

In developing nations like Kenya, HIV/AIDS continues to be a serious challenge. Issues surrounding this disease are many and complex. In some places, like Kenya, there is still a great deal of stigma associated with this disease. As a result of stigma, some people do not seek medical help (even though they want to) because of fear of being found out. Others are unaware of their options, and some are too poor or too sick to purchase their medicine or travel to pick up their medication. Parents get too sick to care for their children and sometimes abandon them, leaving these poor children in a desperate situation.

Women are a particular concern as they are often victims of unprotected sex from an infected partner. Stigma on a woman creates greater shame. It is very sad.

What Can We Do?

Help us build an HIV/AIDS Home Based Care (HBC) fund.

This will enable volunteers by funding their efforts to assist people living with HIV/AIDS with  basic

comfort care (HBC),  educate  and counsel about the diseases, how to access services and sensitively

address the issues surrounding HIV/AIDS isolation. Funding will also help purchase food staples

(such as sacks of maize and beans) to distribute to the sick.

Assisting Women Living in Poverty

Many women in developing nations, like Kenya, are suppressed, abused, neglected or abandoned. Often, women along with their children are 'sent away' by their husbands. The house and land is considered the property of the men, so the women struggle to find a place to live. This leaves them and their children destitute and vulnerable.  It is heartbreaking to see. Others may still live with their husbands but are abused and made to work excessively. These women have to provide for their family because the husband won't. The women take on the added responsibility of providing for their children so they won't starve. Single moms and widows are often very vulnerable. They are at risk, hungry, and desperate. They also need our help.

What Can We Do?

Help us create a fund which can be used to offer these women hope by providing for them and their children's basic needs such as shelter, food, clothing, paying for medical needs, and in some cases, re-location to another community. Currently it is our goal to assist women living in Kenya.

One of the ways we are currently helping is by funding a Sewing Project. One program of this project is teaching women sewing skills. This will help them to either start their own sewing business or seek employment as a skilled worker. Thank you for your support!
